Ms. Carla Wellborn

Hello! Welcome to my Master's Defense Portfolio. My name is Carla Wellborn and I am a member of AUSL's 2012-2013 residency class.

Before joining the AUSL family I studied English Literature and Secondary Education at Wheaton College in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. During my student teaching experience at Addison Trail High School I taught four sections of 10th grade English Journalism and one section of Publications. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College in the spring of 2012 and decided to pursue further education before working full-time as an educator.

I am originally a Detroit native and have only lived in the Chicago-land area for around 5 years now. While living in Detroit I worked as a paraprofessional at Flagship Academy Charter School as well as a tutor for Detroit youth. I am passionate about developing young people into whole and effective members of society and, more importantly, I look forward to the opportunity to teach critical thinking skills.

As Aristotle once wrote:

"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
